All My Grief
There you are, I think, as my breath catches in surprise. I let out a sigh. Of relief? Maybe. Or perhaps just acknowledgement. You’ve been gone for a while, but not forever. No, never that. Now I see you, stretched across the barren, ravaged, winter ground, chalky white and gray. Wispy tendrils of opaque, brisk air, snaking across this silent land. Like leftover music from a child’s music box, after the party is over. You haunt and linger.

Creamy Tomato Soup
Fall in New England It’s here! Almost. The grass is drying out, leaves are tipped with red, some are already bright yellow, and even though it’s still hot and sunny, I’m so ready. Ready for my first fall in New England!!!! I love every season, the changes, the newness that each one ushers in. Different menus and cravings and clothes and activities. It sounds so quaint and idyllic, doesn’t it? And I’m ready for it. Bring on the small town…

This spring I was searching the baking books at our library for something I now cannot remember. To be precise, I was lost in the library. I thought I was in the section for cookbooks in this library that was new to me, but there wasn’t a cookbook in sight. It was all old baking books. Nine months I’ve been here and I still haven’t quite figured out how our library is organized. Surrounded by thick old tomes, some of which even…

Three Fabulous Summer Cocktails
I love summer, I love the laziness, the long days, reading books, napping, eating lots of popsicles and grilled bread, and cold salads. I love the water and the lingering scent of coconut sunscreen that takes me back to childhood days spent at the pool, soaking up the warmth. I love, love, love the sun. But despite my talents at being lazy, with two kids and a fun, new city & state to explore, we’ve managed to stay busy. Trips to the stream, trips to Canada, playing in tide pools, summer concerts, fire pits near the river with good friends, swim lessons, summer camps, dentist appointments, parties and holy cow! It’s…
