Perfect Wintry Cocktail
It’s perfectly chillllllly up here in Maine. Brrrrrrrr!!! I love winter, and I love the snow, which is a good thing, because we’ve got plenty, and it’s only December!
As much as I love the winter season, it’s also my darkest. I suspect it’s that way for many of us. I don’t even have any words left. I’m done, finished with 2017!
I think we all need a cocktail! Enter this delicious ice cream concoction from the cocktail book, Shake, A New Perspective on Cocktails by Eric Prum & Josh Williams.
Shake or blend up some rum, bourbon, ice cream, cinnamon and nutmeg, then sit back and watch the snow fall from the warmth of your living room. The recipe instructions say to shake it all in a cocktail shaker, but you might need to use a blender, or really get in there and whisk/stir it to get the ice cream incorporated. To take it up a notch, use coconut ice cream. Ooo, it’s chilly, but it’ll warm you up! Cheers!!
- 1 Shot Bourbon
- 1 Shot Rum
- 2 Big Scoops Vanilla or Coconut Ice Cream
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg, plus extra for garnish
- Put all in cocktail shaker and shake your heart out. May need to stir and re-shake a few times. OR, put all in blender and blend, like a milkshake. Pour into 2 coupe glasses. Garnish with grated nutmeg, if desired.
- The directions say to shake for 10 seconds and strain, but I like to shake it a lot more or blend it to get all the goodness mixed together. I'll let you decide if it really makes 2 cocktails or not.
